ACQUISITION OF RONCO PRECISION ENGINEERING

Velden Acquires Local Machining Company

Ronco Precision Engineering was a well respected local machining company, supplying highly specialised components in smaller batches. When the Managing Director, Ron Cain, decided to retire, he wanted to sell the company and was insistent that the buyer would look after his loyal employees and his long established customers. Velden’s approach was welcomed because Ron knew they would be willing to invest in the business and take it forward. Velden’s interest came from the extra dimension this smaller batch work would add to our portfolio and the excellent reputation Ronco had gained over the years.

“I built Ronco from nothing and it was a huge part of my life. I wanted to be sure that whoever took it on, would not only look after my employees and customers but would also take the business forward. No other company came close to offering what Velden could. The sale, transition and the move were handled professionally, sensitively and efficiently. I know I made the right choice.”Ron Cain | Managing Director Ronco Precision Engineering

Over the course of one weekend, the machines were transferred to Columbia Mill and production continued uninterrupted on the Monday morning. The transition period was handled carefully, with Ron staying on with the company and gradually reducing his time input over a period of eighteen months. His valuable knowledge and experience, plus his outstanding reputation within the industry ensured a smooth handover and existing customers received continuity.

Velden gained a highly skilled workforce and has been able to invest in modernising the machining process and the acquisition has allowed us to enter a totally new market.
