A Move Towards Metal Printing

To further prove our commitment to keeping up with the latest technologies, we have just taken delivery of our first industrial composite 3D printer.

Whilst 3D printing has been around for a number of years, it’s applications have been somewhat limited. Now, however, technology has advanced to a point where 3D printing is ready to go mainstream and revolutionise the economy.

Velden recognise that 3D production of functional end-use parts is already the fastest growing area in the manufacturing sector and this investment ensures Velden will be at the forefront of the industry.

Our new printer is ideal for prototypes, jigs, fixtures, robot grippers and high end precision parts. Using a combination of fused filament fabrication and continuous filament fabrication technologies, this industrial grade large-format printer delivers exceptional accuracy, reliability and repeatability.

Tough nylon based Onyx reinforced with carbon fibre creates parts 20x stiffer and stronger than typical 3D printed parts. Printed components are stronger than 6061 aluminium and 40% lighter. A built in laser sensor ensures dimensional accuracy.

The introduction of this new technology follows extensive research over the past few years into 3D printing/additive manufacturing and forms the basis of a long-term strategy to integrate these industry changing processes into our production.
